A Christmas campaign for Refuge in the form of a collection of reversible poems that tell opposing stories depending on which way they are read. When reading from the top they tell tales of strong loving relationships. But the opposing reality is told when read from the bottom up. The campaign highlights the reality of coercion, control, abuse and violence.
We were commissioned by McCann for the art direction of Refuge's Christmas campaign which took the form of reversible poetry. The poems were traditionally set in the classic style of poetry in moveable type and printed with a heavy impression on soft cotton paper. With nothing else to distract the viewer from the stark reality when read backwards.
